How Do Live Roulette Games Work Online?
The digital gambling world continues to grow in leaps and bounds thanks to new technology. Gamblers no longer have to rely on brick-and-mortar casinos to get their betting fix. Many online casinos are filling the internet with electronic versions of all the popular gambling games. One such example is roulette. The internet versions include live roulette and electronic roulette. The main difference between the two is that the electronic version does not require the presence of a live dealer. However, live dealer roulette is one of the most popular games being played online. But how does it work? Let’s take a closer look.
The Different Types of Live Dealer Roulette
There are three very different versions of live dealer roulette. They are American Roulette, European Roulette, and French Roulette. Find a live Roulette game here. The following is a quick review of what each version offers:
This is a version of Roulette that has two different zeros on the wheel. They are a single zero and a double zero. These are the two green sections on the wheel. In this version, the Roulette wheel has a total of 38 numbered sections. The single number payout in American Roulette is 35:1 with the wheel being responsible for providing an RTP (Return To Player) rate of 94.74%. The American Roulette version is popular in the United States but is not as visible online as the RTP is lower than that of the European version of the game.
In this version of Roulette, there is just one green section with a single zero. This means that the Roulette wheel has 37 numbered sections which results in an RTP rate of 97.3%. Several different table options are based on the European wheel and the single zero configuration has made this the most popular version of Roulette played online.
This version of Roulette features the European wheel but includes a traditional french betting layout. In other words, there are several extra betting options like la Partage. The extra betting choices increase the RTP rate which is one reason why it is hard to find French Roulette at any of the online casino sites. Plus, it is not nearly as exciting as the other two versions of the game so casual players tend to stay away from French Roulette.
Playing Live Dealer Roulette
The game online is very much the same as you would expect at a land-based casino. The main goal of the player is to predict where the ball will land on the wheel. The wheel will have either 37 numbers (0 to 36 in the European version), or 38 numbers (0, 00 to 36 in the American version). The numbers are green (0, 00), red or black. For the numbers between 1 and 10 and 19 to 28, the even numbers are black with the odd numbers red. For the numbers between 11 and 18 and 29 to 36, the even numbers are red and the odd ones are black.
Once all players have placed their bets, the croupier spins the Roulette wheel and as it keeps spinning, the ball is spun around the outer edge of the wheel in the opposite direction. As the ball loses speed and gets pulled down into the wheel by gravity, it will jump and ricochet over the numbered sections of the wheel until it is captured in one of the ball wells, and bets that correspond to the number in the well are considered winners. The croupier puts a dolly on the winning number on the table and all the losing bets are removed. Winning bets are then paid out.
Live Dealer Roulette Betting
There are two basic types of Roulette bets. They are called either Inside Bets or Outside Bets. Inside bets offer better odds than Outside Bets as they are bets on the numbers or a combination of numbers within the central grid of the table layout. Outside Bets are bets that are placed on number patterns or combinations. Here are a few examples of each type of bet:
This is a bet placed on any single number. The odds of this type of bet are 35-1.
This is a bet placed on the line between any two numbers, horizontally or vertically. The odds are 17-1.
This bet covers the numbers 0-1-2 or 00-2-3 or 0-00-2. The odds of winning this bet is 11-1
This is a bet placed on any three horizontal numbers in a row. It pays 11-1.
This type of bet is placed at the intersection of any four numbers. It pays 8-1.
This bet covers 0, 00, 1-2-3 and returns 6-1.
This bet covers two adjoining Streets, which involves a total of 6 numbers. It has 5-1 odds.
This bet covers one of the three vertical lines of numbers. It pays 2-1.
1st !2, 2nd 12, 3rd 12
These bets cover numbers 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36 respectively. The odds are 2-1.
Odd or Even
These bets cover either the odd numbers or the even numbers. They pay 1-1.
These bets cover either the red numbers or the black numbers and payout 1-1.
These bets cover either the numbers 1-18 or 19-36. The odds are 1-1.
There are a lot of similarities between Roulette in a land-based casino and Roulette played online with a live dealer. The only true difference is that with one you can play from the comfort of your home without having to travel to a live casino. This is a reason why online roulette has become so popular in the past couple of years. It allows bettors to experience the excitement of a casino experience without having to leave home to feel it. And with different variations to the game, online gamblers can try their hand at each before deciding on which version they prefer to play on a computer. While it is still different from being in the actual casino, technology has made it easy to mimic that atmosphere and add a bit of authenticity with the addition of a live dealer.
