Nevada Player wins $1 million in progressive slot machine game
Sometimes, staying up all night can pay off. At 2 a.m. on September 6, 2021, a lucky Las Vegas local won a life-changing $1,024,065 on a $3.75 bet at the Cannery. The player scored the progressive jackpot on a Buffalo Grand slot machine, said a spokesperson for Boyd Gaming.
Another big winner at the Cannery hit a $12,917.98 jackpot on a Fire Link slot machine.
The Cannery is located on 28-acres off The Strip in North Las Vegas. The winnings were claimed on the casino’s expansive 80,000 square foot gaming floor. The resort casino on East Craig Road also features an indoor/outdoor entertainment venue, five restaurants, three bars, and a Galaxy Movie Theater.
Not All Winners are on the Las Vegas Strip
Despite what people think, there is much more to Las Vegas and the state of Nevada besides the Las Vegas Strip. In fact, some of the biggest jackpots have been hit well off The Strip, at lesser-known casinos.
From the grittier old Las Vegas Downtown experience to Henderson and the sublime resorts in Summerlin, casinos are everywhere. You never know where you might hit a life-changing jackpot.
The Fremont Downtown
Teresa visited Downtown Las Vegas from her home in California; little did she know she would go home with $5,310. Seong, a resident of Las Vegas, didn’t have to travel far to win $10,000 at the historic Fremont.
The iconic casino, festooned with good, old-fashioned Vegas neon, was established way back in 1956. At that time, the Fremont was, unbelievably, the tallest building in the state. At the time, it was a state-of-the-art hotel-casino with 155 rooms, costing $6 million to construct. Las Vegas luminaries from days gone by undoubtedly spent many nights at the Fremont, drinking martinis and shooting craps.
Green Valley Ranch
One lucky winner turned an $8 Keno bet into a cool $13,280. The win was made on a 6-spot video keno card.
Also at Green Vally Ranch, a player dropped $7.20 into an Emperor’s Treasure slot machine for a jackpot of $24,370. Another Green Valley guest dropped $3 into a slot for a $10,153 return. You can’t beat that!
Green Valley Ranch Resort Casino and Spa is located in the affluent Green Valley Ranch community in Henderson. The resort casino is owned and operated by Station Casinos. The expansive property features a 143,891 square foot gaming floor, eight restaurants, a Regal Cinema, and 450 hotel rooms.
The Orleans
This Boyd Gaming Casino is one mile from The Strip, in Paradise, NV. One lucky visitor to The Orleans won $14,088 on a Dancing Drums Prosperity slot machine.
The Orleans sits on 88 acres of land on West Tropicana Avenue. The casino resort cost $173 million to build back in 1996. The hotel has 840 rooms and features a dozen restaurants. Guests can feast at the upscale Alder & Birch, or grab a quick cup of joe at Java Vegas Coffee.
Sam’s Town
A player named Norma won a nice $11,922.22 playing slots at Sam’s Town. Denia from California had a much more modest $305.47 slot win, but that was a nice gift for her husband’s birthday.
Located on Boulder Highway in the Sunrise Manor area, the unassuming exterior of Sam’s Town hides a 25,000-square-foot “Mystic Falls Park”. This is an enormous glass-roofed atrium with cobblestone paths, tall, majestic live trees, and a waterfall in the center. This is where visitors can see the amazing Sunset Stampede Laser Light and Water Show. To top it off, this neighborhood casino has one of the largest gaming floors in the city, as well as a bowling alley and movie theater.
Suncoast
One lucky player hit a $14.020.77 slots jackpot on a Dancing Drums machine, and another player scored a $13,694.56 slot machine jackpot at the Summerlin resort.
Suncoast is in Summerlin, near the beautiful golf courses. It is the go-to resort for anyone who wants to hit the links in the Las Vegas Valley. Sitting on the western edge of the valley puts Suncoast close to nature, so don’t be surprised to see foxes, coyotes, and the occasional bighorn sheep on the golf courses.
Sunset Station
One player turned a 50-cent bet into a mind-blowing Epic Fortunes jackpot of 10,600. Not to be outdone, another Sunset Station player turned 80-cents dropped on Wicked Wheel into $11,682. Finally, a $5.25 video poker wager gave one player a huge $43,110 reward.
Sunset Station is located in Henderson, on Sunset Road, not far from the Galleria at Sunset shopping mall. The fabulous facade conceals around a dozen bars and restaurants. Sunset Station also features one of the biggest, best swimming pools in the valley.
Treasure Island
Finally, a casino resort on The Strip with a big winner. Hov C. claimed a jackpot worth more than $40,000 playing on a 777 slot machine.
Built in 1993 by Mirage Resorts for $430 million, Treasure Island has 2,884 hotel rooms and 220 suites. Initially, Treasure Island had a pirate theme, but that was eventually removed for something more adult.
